Tricksters

Tricksters is a 10x10cm micro oil on easel painting inspired by mischievous, otherworldly jesters – playful, intelligent, and unpredictable beings. This piece explores how humour, chaos, and duality shape our worlds, celebrating the trickster and unpredictable nature of life. The jesters distort perception, shifting between kindness and menace, embodying both fascination and fear.

Their behaviour is curious and investigative, intrigued by us as we are by them. In Tricksters, I aimed to capture their layered personalities – light-hearted yet unsettling, clever and chaotic. The small scale of the original painting draws viewers in, acting as a mirror into a tiny yet infinitely expansive psychedelic world, simultaneously unfolding in the present moment.

This painting is part of my ongoing exploration into the many faces of the universe. Using jesters as symbolic figures, I express the idea that the universe is conscious and houses creatures we may not have met yet – beings who could be overlooking us just as we are fascinated by them.
